Senate minority leader Chuck Schumer claimed that He had to support the Republican CR. Otherwise, the government will be shut down and Trump has unlimited power to thwart the federal government.
When he made it, the argument was hogwash. Nancy Pelosi exposed it.
Sure enough, Donald Trump did this shortly after Schumer fell into the cave and CR passed.
What you’re looking at is part of an executive order that has hampered seven government agencies, including Voice of America and Smithsonian. You can also see Trump’s EO Guts agency for community development and minority business development, addressing the issue of homelessness.
Chuck Schumer told the country that the government needs to be open so that it can check Trump and prevent unlimited forces to block the government across the gut.
The Senate is on a break.
The government shutdown would have paid off the administrative agencies. They would have never stopped Trump and Musk from hacking in the federal government, but the president would have been forced to face off against Democrats and Musk to stop this action.
The closure would have been the first move by the Democrats, not the last. Thanks to Schumer, Democrats don’t have leverage until they need to raise their debt caps in a few months to avoid default.
Schumer’s excuse Keeping the government open was a fake and was quickly disproved by Trump’s actions.
Democrats learned there is a group of their own senators who cannot trust them to fight for them.
The sense of betrayal that many Democrats feel today is real. It’s the same feeling that many had when the party pushed Joe Biden off the ticket, despite the major Democratic voters choosing him as the candidate. Whether that was the right thing or whether the primary should be handled differently is a different question.
The point is that there is an elitist Democrat collection in the government and in the media. Don’t hear what Democrat voters want, and honestly don’t bother you, think of Pod Save American/Ezra Klein.
These people continue to make decisions from Schumer on Down and there are calculations that will soon come to the Democrats.
