Williams said she was wearing “stage makeup” in the video that sparked speculation and explained that she was volunteering at a school play in Olympia.
“Yes, I’m calling you out on this because it’s ridiculous that people are like, ‘Oh, she’s bleaching her skin.’ I’m a dark black woman and I’m calling you out on this. I love who I am and I love the way I look,” Williams said.
“It’s not my hobby. If people do it, it’s their job and they have every opportunity to do it and they should…I don’t judge, but you guys do. ” she continued. “That’s the nature of this world, and I stay in my lane, the non-judgmental lane, and stick to it. But no, I don’t actually bleach my skin. So, hey. Can I clear that up?”
In addition to dispelling speculation about his skin color, Williams is also supporting her husband as he navigates his recent health scare. Ohanian, 41, revealed last week that she had undergone thyroid surgery to prevent cancer.
“For the past four years, I had been tracking several suspicious nodules on my thyroid, and I recently had half of them surgically removed,” Ohanian says. with subtitles Instagram post on Thursday, November 28th. “The nodule has grown larger and the latest biopsy revealed that it is very likely to become cancerous.”
