in At Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris this morning, the tech giant unveiled some new AI-powered products, including a new Galaxy Ring designed to collect the wearer’s health data 24/7, and the Galaxy Watch Ultra, which features new bio-active sensors.

The company also released the Galaxy AI-powered Energy Score: Samsung Health analyses sleep metrics and heart rate variability to provide personalized insights into physical functioning and advises individuals whether they should “take it easy” or “push their limits.”

The app offers customized health tips to improve users’ energy scores, including increasing exercise, improving sleep and achieving a healthy weight.

Galaxy Ring

The Galaxy Ring, the tech giant’s first-of-its-kind health ring, offers 24/7 monitoring, tracking and personalized insights, including analysis of heart health, sleep patterns, cycle tracking and energy score.

The AI-powered Ring is equipped with three sensors that measure sleep, activity, and heart rate data.

The Ring comes equipped with a sleep AI algorithm that tracks your sleep patterns including snoring analysis, movement during sleep, sleep latency, etc. Cycle tracking is done by analyzing your skin temperature throughout the night.

The wearable syncs with the Samsung Health app and alerts the wearer if their heart rate gets abnormally high or low.

The device also offers other personalized health information that wearers can view through the company’s app without a subscription.

The Galaxy Ring’s battery lasts up to seven days on a single charge and is made from titanium.

The ring, which will sell for $399, is designed to withstand a variety of temperatures, humidity and hundreds of charging cycles, and the company says it underwent extensive research and testing.

Galaxy Smartwatch

The tech giant also unveiled the new Galaxy Watch Ultra, which comes with new bio-active sensors for preventive care, more accurate health measurements, advanced exercise tracking, an emergency siren, and more.

BioActive Sensors include upgrading the Watch’s light-receiving photodiode, adding additional Light Emitting Diode (LED) colors, and repositioning the LEDs within the device, optimizing the Watch to capture more real estate and more accurately collect and measure health data.

Sensors will enable more accurate measurement of health indicators, such as blood oxygen levels, sleep quality, stress levels, and heart rate.

“Samsung’s Health Monitor app offers advanced tracking features, including blood pressure monitoring that is CE marked in the EU and ECG that is FDA cleared in the US,” Tom Cullimore, account director for smartphones, tablets, wearables, audio and accessories at Samsung, said during the event.

“And now this is the first of its kind. [De Novo] Cleared by the US FDA to detect signs of sleep apnea.

The new sensor also provides users with an Advanced Glycation End Products (AGE) index, a set of biomarkers indicative of metabolic health and biological age, and a Google-powered GPS location tracker.

The company touts that the new bioactive sensor improves the accuracy of measuring the wearer’s heart rate by 30% compared to the watch’s previous model.

The Watch Ultra with Wear OS by Google will have a retail price starting at $649.

Samsung also announced the Galaxy Watch 7, which has similar features to the Ultra but without the advanced activity tracking and emergency siren.

The Watch 7, with its health-focused features, will retail for $299.

All the devices announced by Samsung will be available for purchase from July 24th.

The HIMSS AI in Healthcare Forum is scheduled to take place in Boston from September 5 to 6. More information and registration.
