Secretary of State Marco Rubio began restricting visa policies to protect Americans on Wednesday following the pledge he still made between the US senators.

“It is unacceptable that foreigners will issue or threaten arrest warrants to US citizens or US residents for social media posts on American platforms while physically present in US soil,” Rubio said. “For foreign officials, it is also unacceptable to require American tech platforms to adopt a global content moderation policy or engage in censorship activities that reach the United States beyond authority, and will not tolerate an infringement of American sovereignty, especially if such infringement undermines the exercise of its fundamental right to freedom of speech.”
