The DeSantis administration says coordinating hurricane preparedness is now partisan politics.
DeSantis and his allies realized how bad this story was and changed their version to say, “Oh, it was that Kamala Harris.” Did you call that?
O’Brien posted that DeSantis claimed he was unaware of the call from Harris.
Mr. DeSantis now says he had no knowledge that Mr. Harris had called him, despite earlier indications that the call had been rejected.
“No, I didn’t know she called me. I saw it. [the report]but I wasn’t aware of that,” he said in the press.
Interestingly, Georgia Governor Brian Kemp made sure to tell reporters that he missed a call from President Biden during Hurricane Helen and immediately called the president back.
DeSantis’ strategy is to put the lives of the state’s citizens at risk for partisan politics. Hurricane Milton is shaping up to be a major storm hitting Florida. No leader in their right mind would prioritize partisan presidential politics over saving lives, but that’s exactly what Ron DeSantis is doing.
