Almost a year after I added it Colorado Landon Wolny continues to build comfort with Coach Prime’s program.
The Naples Community School (Florida) high school star returned to Boulder over the weekend to check in for spring practice, and the cross-country program ended up raising his list.
“It was amazing,” Wally told his rivals. “You can definitely build something special in Boulder and see that the culture is different. I’ve always had a very close relationship with Coach (Brett) Bartrown and Coach (Andrew) Zimmer. They’ve always treated me like a family.
“Colorado is definitely jumping on my list and I’m excited to be back in the future. It’s definitely the top three best competitors for me. Having a relationship with Coach Bartron and Coach Prime is very important to me.”
Of course, the most talked about college coaches and the 15th tight end recruiting in the 2027 class, in the country, is sharing something that goes beyond that location on Saturday that is common attention.
“It’s special because we both came from Fort Myers, Florida, and we got the opportunity to talk about how he’s grown up to this point,” Wonney said. “He also coached me in my game and expressed that if they got me, they could attack almost every play vertically.”
With Sanders’ staff heavy on impressive pass catchers, the Colorado angle has become one of the more consistent things for the newest Floridians the program is trying to pull in.
“I think the best word to describe that is accountability,” Wonnie said. “Winning is their number one priority, especially at Prime, and everyone buys to do so.”
Rising judge recruits are in the spring visit schedule and have scheduled trips Arizona and Arizona I’ll set it this next week. Other programs are expected to stop by to see Fort Myers natives as Springball kicks off at Sunshine State Florida, Olemis and Arkansaud.
With momentum and more travel under his belt, it could potentially help Warney reach college decisions earlier than many would expect.
“We’ll definitely be closer to a decision this spring,” he said.
