mother jones: “Sixty-six members of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor (Minnesota branch of the national Democratic Party) elected to the House of Representatives did not show up on Tuesday. These Democrats said the work to fill vacancies in blue districts will begin in January. They insist it cannot begin until a special election is held on the 28th.

“The seat is unfilled, giving Republicans a 67-66 lead in the chamber, a temporary move the party has vowed to use to unseat Democratic state representative Brad Tabke. advantage, and could help solidify the Republican Party’s tentative advantage for the rest of the term.
