Republicans think Americans are stupid. This is not a light or joking statement, but it is the only possible explanation of the scheme they came up with to avoid Medicaid’s responsibility.
Rep. Austin Scott (R-GA) explained the Fox News plans.
FMAP is the federal healthcare aid rate, ranging from 50% to 76.9% in the country. Now, when DEMS expanded Medicaid under the Affordable Care Act, they matched that percentage 90/10. That’s why the federal government is paying 90% of Medicaid expansion.
And what we’ve talked about is that it drives 90% of that. The level of expansion is 90/10, 90% are federal, 10% are state games and as long as the governor has decided he wants to continue funding the program, no one will be kicked off from Medicaid, instead of 90/10, from about 80% to about 80%. And we’re going to ask the state to pick up and pay for an additional percentage of Medicaid rates.
Scams are easy. Republicans cut federal funds and force the governor to drive people out of Medicaid.
