It has been revealed that cornerback Jayer Alexander is not with the Green Bay Packers in the 2025 season.
But whether Alexander is traded or released remains a question.
The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported on Tuesday that Alexander was not addressed, but Green Bay almost traded the seven-year veteran at the start of the league year.
However, there were two issues with the transaction. First, the Packers wanted too much in return. Secondly, Alexander was willing to cut his salary.
Alexander remains in the four-year extension he signed in 2022 for two years. In 2025, his base salary was $16.15 million, and in 2026 it was $18.15 million.
According to CAP, if Green Bay cuts or trades Alexander on designations after June 1, the dead money would cost over $7.5 million, while the CAP savings are around $17.1 million. The cuts or trade on June 1 mean more than $17 million in deaths and about $7.6 million in savings.
Alexander is the second-team All-Pro, making the Pro Bowl in both 2020 and 2022, but injuries forced him to miss most of the past four seasons. He appeared in just four games in 2021, seven games in both 2023 and ’24.
Alexander has had 12 career interceptions in 2022 by five. He also has three picks in seven playoff appearances.
