The Dallas Cowboys have acquired quarterback Joe Milton III from a New England patriot, several media outlets reported Thursday.
According to ESPN, the Cowboys are sending a compensatory fifth pick to the Patriots and the seventh pick.
Milton, 25, will serve as a backup for Dallas’ Duck Prescott after Cooper Rush signed with the Baltimore Ravens last month. The Cowboys’ third quarterback, Traylanth, of the past two seasons, is a free agent.
With his NFL debut, Milton completed 22 of 22 passes for 241 yards in a 23-16 victory over the Buffalo Bills on January 5th, selecting Milton in the fifth round of Tennessee’s 2024 NFL Draft.
The Patriots will feature Drake May as their starting quarterback. They also have Josh Dobbs on the quarterback depth chart after signing the veteran on a two-year, $8 million contract last month.
