Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) has remained relatively quiet in recent years following a scandal involving her office’s IT aide, Imran Awan.
Imran and his two Pakistani brothers were paid millions of dollars to manage IT matters for several Democratic government officials, including Wasserman Schultz. They were dismissed from their positions in February 2017 on suspicion of accessing certain computer networks without authorization.
Wasserman Schultz faced criticism for defending Imran, who had a mistress contract with the Justice Department.
Despite her own checkered past, Wasserman Schultz has now resurfaced in the media and made an offensive statement calling Trump’s nominee for director of national intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, a “Russian asset.” It went so far as to launch an attack.
Gabbard is a veteran of Iraq and is in the Army Reserve. Three years ago, she was promoted to lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve.
In announcing her nomination, President Trump said: “I am pleased to announce that former Congresswoman Lt. Col. Tulsi Gabbard will serve as Director of National Intelligence (DNI). For more than 20 years, Tulsi has fought for our country and the freedoms of all Americans.As a former candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination, she enjoys wide support from both parties and is now a proud candidate. Tulsi will make us proud!”
On Friday, Wasserman Schultz shared this claim without evidence on MSNBC.
“According to most assessments, she is considered to be essentially a Russian element and would be the most dangerous,” Wasserman Schultz said.
Then she was confronted by the host, who asked, “Do you think that’s about her?”
She answered: There’s no question. She is probably the Russian point person, and as DNI she is responsible for managing our entire intelligence community, holds all of our country’s most important intelligence information and secrets, and essentially has direct access to our enemies. I believe that he is a person who is related to the ”

Tulsi Gabbard was the DNC deputy in 2016 because Debbie Wasserman Schultz was rigging the election to ensure Hillary’s victory, as Liz Warren, Donna Brazile, and WL all showed. He resigned as chairman.
