Former President Donald Trump on Monday Tesla And SpaceX CEO Elon Musk is likely to take a cabinet post or serve in an advisory role in the administration if he is elected to a second term in the White House.
In an interview with Reuters, Trump said he would hire Musk for such a role “if he’s willing.”
But the Republican candidate also said he would consider eliminating a $7,500 tax credit for certain new electric vehicles, which could affect Tesla’s business selling electric cars.
“Tax credits and tax incentives in general are not very good,” Trump told Reuters after a campaign rally in York, Pennsylvania.
Musk endorsed Trump in July, shortly after the former president narrowly survived an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in western Pennsylvania.
President Trump is set to face off against Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris in the November election.
