Pole vaulter Anthony Ammirati His groin got caught in the crossbar, missing out on a chance to win an Olympic medal.

The 21-year-old was competing in a track and field heat on Saturday, August 3. While attempting to go over the crossbar, Ammirati was unable to do so. His penis (through his shorts) got caught on the bar, preventing him from going over as intended, and he fell to the ground.

After four attempts in the pole vault, Ammirati finished in 12th place with a total score of 5.60 points, failing to advance to the next round and thus failing to get a chance to compete for a medal. Armand DuplantisNorway Sondre Guttormsen And Greek Emmanuille Karalis Tied for 1st place. Sam KendricksThe American rider finished in 7th place. There will be a second heat before the final.

The men’s pole vault was Ammirati’s only event at the 2024 Olympics. He previously placed second at the 2022 Mediterranean Games and first at the World Athletics U-20 Championships that same year.

Amirathy has been training since she was a child.

“I started pole vaulting because a girl at my club was doing it. When I saw her jump I knew I had to try it,” he wrote on Instagram in May 2023.

Ammirati had been training in Clermont-Ferrand since 2021 but last year joined the Ambol club, which was founded by Olympians. Renaud Lavillenie.

Two days before the qualifying round, Ammirati was ready to take to the field.

“Safely arrived at the Olympic Village 🙂 Qualifying starts at 10:10 on Saturday,” he captioned the post on Thursday, August 1. Instagram Snap: “Can’t wait to jump for the support of the French crowd.”
