Tiger Woods’ 15-year-old son Charlie hit his first hole-in-one at the PNC Championship in Orlando on Sunday.
During the final round, Charlie made history on the 175-yard par-3 fourth at the Ritz-Carlton Club.
Charlie didn’t seem to realize his ball had gone in until the large gallery at the side of the green started cheering wildly, as did a group of fans on the other side of the hole, most of them with their index fingers up. Some of the players held their fingers pointing downwards to show that the ball had gone into the ball. The hole is facing upwards to show his score.
Television cameras eventually identified him. Tiger Woods hugged his son tightly, then playfully shoved him. “First picture,” Charlie said as cameras surrounded him.
“It was a perfect 7-iron, so I kind of hit it,” Charlie said as he approached the fourth green. “It came down the left side and kind of cut seven. It was amazing. I didn’t think it went in. Nobody can believe it until they go out there and see it.”
About 30 minutes later, Paddy Harrington, son of three-time major champion Padraig Harrington, also had a hole-in-one on the eighth hole.
The PNC, where 20 major champions each play with a family member, will be Tiger Woods’ first competitive tournament since undergoing back surgery in September.
Tiger and Charlie are headlining the field, but have yet to win a tournament. In 2021, the pair finished second behind John Daly and his son, John Daly II.
“It was an unbelievable, perfect moment,” he said. Sky Sports” Oliver Fisher.
“The perfect number, the 7-iron just down the left, I loved it from the moment I hit it, even though my dad wasn’t around.
“What a shame to miss such a moment, but it was an incredible scene for Charlie. It was a great start and really nerve-wracking for them.”
“There’s no feeling like hitting a shot on the tee and it actually going into the hole. You could tell Charlie was feeling surreal about the whole thing. It was just an amazing moment. ”
