Phylogeny of the tarantula subfamily Thrigmopoeinae, endemic to the Western Ghats, and description of a new genus and four new species.
The Western Ghats are a biodiversity hotspot known for their high degree of endemism. The tarantula subfamily Thrigmopoeinae consists of two genera and seven species and is endemic to the Western Ghats. A taxonomic description of the tarantula subfamily Thrigmopoeinae, endemic to the Western Ghats, is presented. The study is based on a review of the museum’s existing materials and fresh collections from across the Western Ghats. Re-diagnosis of the genus haplocrassus Simon, 1892; Trigmopoeus Pocock, 1899 describes a new genus and four new species. genus Silantica generation. It is proposed to correspond in November Cilantica phsycadelicus comb. november and Silantica Kai comb. New species from the southern Western Ghats in November. Thrigmopoeinae is endemic to the Western Ghats, a biodiversity hotspot and an important flagship for invertebrate conservation.
