In the PVL All-Filipino Conference held at the Smart Araneta Coliseum on Thursday night, Petro Gaz overcame Akali’s woes with scores of 28-26, 29-27, and 25-18 to extend their winning streak to two. .
Brooke Van Sickle and Myra Pablo combined to punish the Chargers, with the Filipino-American hitters dropping 19 points, 15 off attacks, and 13 great digs, with Pablo having 13 kills, one block, and an ace. He scored 15 points.

The Angels improved their record to 3-1 after overwhelming Farm Fresh last Nov. 23 in Candon, Ilocos Sur, with Blove Bourbon slowing down 12 shots off Akali’s serve.
“I haven’t played in a while after the rest so it was great to stay focused in that tense game. I’m so proud of everyone, I feel like REM. [Palma] She did a really good job of getting all the girls together while we were on the court, and just slowing us down, because sometimes we were like, ‘Oh. And she’s like, ‘Calm down, okay, breathe, and just play our volleyball,'” Van Sickle said.

“I thought she did a great job of organizing the team. I thought everyone came out with really good energy. Everyone was smiling and had a good vibe. Akari showed her drive and grit as always. They came out and did a great job. It was a great battle and good volleyball,” she added.

Petro Gaz did just that, staying in control throughout the game despite Akali fighting back in the first two sets.
Ivy Laxina paced the Chargers with 21 points, Gressel Saltons added 11 points and Eli Soyud added 10 points. Dani Ravena caught 15 nice digs, but Akali lost three straight after starting the conference with back-to-back wins.
Petro Gaz will look to control PLDT, who are coming off a loss on Tuesday, as Akali look to make a comeback against Cherry Tigo on Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.
