Peer Global Inc today announced it has raised $10.5 million in its latest funding for Metaverse Game Engine. It will be used to accelerate team building and AI product development. In addition to the funding, the company has launched a personal planetary function. This is a feature within the engine that allows users to create their own 3D social hubs. According to founder Tony Tran, this new social engagement is intended to be a more addictive, static social media tonic.
The total investments for the peer are $65.5 million from angel investors. Tommy Mai’s family office is the sole investor in this funding round. The company will build the AI capabilities that make up the backbone of the enduring world. AI is one of the tools the company offers to developers who want to build experiences on their peers. Within the game’s engine, all games and experiences are connected to each other.
Mai said in a statement: “Today’s websites, social networks, digital brand experiences are flat. People are getting a short attention. AI pushes everything into the spatial experience, with peers leading the way. We’re really excited by the possibilities of this technology and we’re thinking of Tony and Team making this right.”
Peers want to redefine social experiences
Speaking to Gamesbeat, Tran said peers will transform those same social engagement powers into something that will allow users to go outside and engage with the world around them. “Using dynamic location sharing within the platform, it creates living maps where people can see each other moving in real time, causing spontaneous interaction and collaboration rather than passive consumption. This transforms the energy of traditional FOMOs into something constructive for exploration, discovery and shared experiences. Instead of feeling left out, users are invited to action, such as meeting friends, participating in events, or co-creating in an AI-driven world.”
Tran also notes the benefits of using AI for developers. “What we have is a social interface where AI can create the full potential, and for mass consumption, it generates games, characters, and overall experiences on demand. Peers leverage AI to bring the visual aspects of metaverse to life in ways other experiences can’t. All other metaverses exist alone, and in peers AI functions as connective tissue. It connects people, places and experiences in real time, forming an instant information layer that keeps everything fluid, reactive, and intelligent.”
According to Tran, Peer will launch a location-based mechanism in the near future, as well as new monetization mechanisms such as digital property sales and premium experiences. In the long run, the company plans to provide access to the peer experience on any device. To build on a large scale, they plan to offer subscription tiers, AI-based advertising and a complete digital economy.
Tran told GamesBeat: “Peer’s AI integration enables dynamic, procedurally generated environments, meaning developers can create living worlds that adapt to player action. Peer provides a platform for developers to build games that not only get played, but also stop new possibilities for immersive, connected gameplay.”
