Owen Farrell could potentially return to the Saracens next season as an injury cover – if he is currently at RACING 92 and is less than his current salary.
Farrell headed to France in 2024 16 years later with the Saracen, but his opening campaign was damaged by gro caliber injuries and poor team forms, leading to a proposal that had been turned to a switch to England.
Sallys is allowed to replace Alex Rozovsky’s injuries, who is likely to be on the sidelines until Christmas, but Rugby Mark McCall’s director says there are hurdles to overcome whether Farrell will rejoin the Premiership club.
McCall missed the playoffs this season despite defeating Bath in the final game of his regular campaign, but told reporters: “I think we’re a little vulnerable at 10 o’clock.
“The way the process works is to compile a list of people you think is appropriate.
“Owen wasn’t on the list because he’s signed with the race, but there’s some noise that might be ready to see it, and he might be ready to see it.
“Something has to happen. One thing is, the race has to let him go and they have to let him go of the price the club willing to pay.
“If Owen appears on the list, he looks like a pretty good option because of the value of the money he brings.
“It’s not just about having talent, it’s about being able to think properly on the field. Owen is clearly one of the best things about it.”
McCall feels that Farrell will help the young Saracen fly herbs Fergus Burke and Louis Johnson grow. “Owen and Louis, in particular, already have a very strong relationship.
“Owen is willing to share his knowledge and his experience with young players. It could be great to have him there because of the young talent that is developing.”
