Oregon will host a candlelight vigil for late football star and NFL draft pick Kyrie Jackson on Wednesday night at Autzen Stadium in Eugene.
Jackson and two of his high school football teammates were killed in a car accident Saturday morning in his home state of Maryland. Jackson was 24.
Jackson, a defensive back, was a fourth-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in April and was months away from making his NFL debut. He played in junior college and at the University of Alabama before transferring to Oregon for the 2023 season.
“We will be holding a candlelight vigil to celebrate the life of Kylee Jackson,” Oregon Football posted on X (formerly Twitter). “We would be honored if you would join us. Everyone is welcome to attend.”

Police continue to investigate the crash, but no charges had been filed as of Tuesday.
According to Maryland State Police, Jackson was a passenger in a Dodge Charger that was struck by an Infiniti Q50 just after 3 a.m. Saturday in Prince George’s County.
The Infiniti attempted to change lanes and was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a Charger, which then struck a Chevrolet Impala. The impact caused the Charger to veer off the right side of the road, where it struck “multiple tree stumps” before coming to a stop, according to the report.
The other passengers in the Charger were driver Isaiah Hazel, 23, and Anthony Litton Jr., 24. Authorities said the driver of the Impala was uninjured, as were the driver of the Infiniti, identified by police as Cori Klingman, and her two passengers.
Police said alcohol may have been a factor in the accident.
