explanation: When his beloved wife disappears, a farmer with a violent past takes up a machete and his daughter and sets out on a path of revenge. Director Ray Figueroa’s beautifully choreographed Caribbean samurai western pays tribute to the legacies of Akira Kurosawa and Sergio Leone with a Puerto Rican twist.
A time of poverty and inequality, a time when honor had no social class. This could easily have been feudal Japan, but this is the Caribbean. Instead of swords, they use machetes. In 1930s Puerto Rico, Americans are buying up all the land they can get their hands on. If they don’t get what they want, they take it. Junior Walker wants Pura as his wife, so he sends his men to kidnap her. What he doesn’t know is that Pura already has a husband, Juan Encarnación, a former most feared foreman, and a daughter, Patria. Encarnación plans to fight all of Junior Walker’s men, including his former rival, to get her back.
