Manchester City have reached a verbal agreement with Eintracht Frankfurt to sign striker Omar Marmouche.
Marmouche, who operates in a front three, has scored 15 goals in the Bundesliga so far this season, just one goal behind Bayern Munich striker Harry Kane. The top ranking is 16th place.
The Egyptian international last week agreed in principle to join City, pending agreement between the clubs.
Negotiations between the clubs have intensified since then, with Eintracht demanding around £67.5m (approximately €80m) to part with their prized asset.
City’s outgoing sporting director Txiki Begiristan held fresh negotiations with Eintracht on Monday, with the two clubs getting much closer to agreeing a price for Marmouche.
City’s offer on Wednesday is slightly lower than Eintracht’s original request at a fixed fee of £59m (approx. €70m) plus add-ons of £4.2m to £8.4m (approx. €5m to €10m). It was thought that
Begiristain appears to be on the rise now – City palmeiras outlook Vitor Reis and Lens Abdukodir Kusanov.
Marmouche joined Eintracht on a free transfer from fellow Bundesliga side Wolfsburg in 2023.
How he became an elite and why they want him
Adam Bate of Sky Sports:
Omar Marmouche has emerged as another superstar forward for Egypt. No player in the Bundesliga has been involved in more goals than the Eintracht Frankfurt player, not even Harry Kane.
At almost 26 years old, he has had an incredible rise. Until 2022, Marmouche was at struggling Stuttgart on loan from then-parent club Wolfsburg. His fortunes improved dramatically at Frankfurt, a club where he became an expert in market play.
Speaking to Frankfurt’s sporting director Markus Krochet earlier this season, he remained optimistic about the club potentially losing its biggest star. “It’s part of my job to sell players. I’m not emotional about it. It’s business,” he said. sky sports.
“I try to think about players. They want titles, they want to play in the Premier League, they want to play in the Champions League. It’s a normal process. There’s always a point where a player develops faster than the club. There will be, and then we’ll let him go.” It’s not good to hinder their development.
“This is what I tell all my players: If your development is faster than our growth as a club and you get the amount of money I expect, I will let you go. , that’s why so many young talents want to come to Frankfurt. We know what we have to do to develop them.”
But even by Frankfurt’s high standards, Marmouche’s example is extreme. Signed on a free transfer from Wolfsburg in the summer of 2023, he has transformed into one of the Bundesliga’s best players and an all-round forward who rivals the best in Europe.
