A woman went to a laser hair removal company but got worse results than she bargained for: She suffered severe burns in two highly sensitive areas of her body, at least according to a new lawsuit.
Amy Romero She is suing NuU Laser, claiming that a laser hair removal appointment she had in February 2023 was a complete flop, leaving her with burns to her underarms and vagina.
In the lawsuit obtained by TMZ, Romero claims that as soon as the procedure began, she felt a burning sensation she’d never felt before, and she complained to the technician about the pain.
Romero says the technician told her there was nothing to worry about – the machine was set to a normal temperature – and ignored her complaints, asking if it might be related to her menstrual cycle.
In his lawsuit, Romero claims the technicians did not check or adjust the machine’s temperature and continued with the laser hair removal treatment, and ignored Romero’s further concerns that the laser appeared brighter and yellowish than normal.
Romero said she told the technician that the laser was hurting her underarms, but he then moved on to treat her vaginal area, where she felt a “burning sensation” from the laser.
The woman claims she forced the technician to stop the procedure due to excruciating pain… but the technician attempted to continue and complete the procedure, but Romero refused.
Romero said the technician applied hydrocortisone cream to ease the pain, but the discomfort only worsened and she noticed her private parts were red and had dark grey circles around her vagina and armpits.
She says her skin was falling off and that when she begged for something to ease the pain, the technician and shop owner just gave her more cream, and it took 15 minutes for them to bring her ice packs and ointment, none of which worked, she claims.
Romero said the pain was so bad she couldn’t even walk out of the store, so she called an Uber and went straight to an emergency room, where doctors diagnosed her with first-degree burns to her armpits and vagina.
She claims the burn scars required treatment from a dermatologist, who told her her private parts would never fully recover.
Romero says the burns left her with painful, disfiguring and grotesque scars, and she claims her injuries have prevented her from working as a dancer and have caused her to miss shows, auditions, jobs and modelling engagements.
She is seeking $1.5 million in damages from NewUlaser.
