Articles rarely end with a headline, but no one wants to see UFC legend Conor McGregor fight Logan Paul, so there’s nothing more to say.
Rumors have been circulating over the past few days that McGregor will be returning to the UFC to fight featherweight champion Ilya Topria. Early Tuesday morning, McGregor denied those rumors.
Topria fired them. In the same way.
Instead of making his long-awaited return to the UFC, which was recently canceled after his June 29 fight with Michael Chandler fell through, McGregor is now courting Logan Paul.
Despite UFC boss Dana White continuing to tout something huge coming in 2025, it’s becoming increasingly clear that McGregor has little interest in actually returning to the Octagon. It has become.
Calling out Logan Paul only furthers the hunch that McGregor is done taking the fight game seriously.
Don’t get me wrong. There is no doubt that in a world where this actually happens, it will be absolutely massive. Logan has done a great job of reviving his career as a creator and has become one of WWE’s brightest stars.
But here’s the problem. He’s not a fighter. If anything, a match between Jake Paul and McGregor would be at least marginally more interesting, especially coming on the heels of a huge event with Mike Tyson.
Jake acknowledged McGregor’s post and said his promotional company, Most Valuable Promotions, would consider collaborating with McGregor as long as the UFC is directly involved or an agreement is reached.
Logan’s last boxing match The absolute clown show with Dillon Danishe clearly didn’t take the fight seriously enough to take the promotion seriously. After that, the older Paul retired from boxing and decided to seriously try his hand at WWE.
A boxing match or mixed martial arts match with McGregor will serve little purpose other than making everyone rich. After all, this is what this whole influencer battleground is really about.
Once again, there’s no denying that McGregor’s celebrity pairing with brother Paul would garner a lot of attention. But what does it really mean?
Both Mr. and Mrs. Paul are well over 6 feet tall. McGregor is only 5 feet 9 inches tall. Paul and his wife both weigh over 200 pounds. McGregor was a UFC champion in the featherweight and lightweight divisions.
Logan had an exhibition boxing match with Floyd Mayweather in 2021. It was a huge event but ultimately very boring. A fight with McGregor (who had his own exhibition with Mayweather in 2017) will likely be similar.
No one wants to see this. At 36 years old, McGregor’s chances of competing in a meaningful fight in the UFC are rapidly diminishing.
