The world’s largest fan voting award show, American Music AwardIt will be held in Las Vegas on May 26th. Sir Rod Stewart is honored for his lifetime and will be on the AMAS stage for the first time in more than 20 years. Janet Jackson won the Icon Award and will be offering her first TV performance in seven years. Jennifer Lopez first won the award in 2015 and will return to hosting and performing this year. The awards will air on CBS and Paramount+ on May 26th.
Kendrick Lamar is the top nominee with 10 nominations American Music Award. He was able to connect Michael Jackson, the most awarded winner of the year with Whitney Houston, if he won in all eight categories. He said, “We were all over the world, we were on the east coast, we were a little south, but I know we couldn’t wait for me to come home, you listen to me!” Throughout the show, Kendrick and SZA ran separate sets and chose duets like “30 For 30” and “All the Stars.” Kendrick held a show on stage with his signature Black 1987 Buick GNX when he did “wack out the mural.” He dropped new poems while playing “Family Ties” and set up a crowd between “TV Off” and “Not Like Us.” Sza brought Rizzo as a surprise guest and they sang “Special”. SZA also floated as a fairy-like butterfly while singing “No one will grab me.” The two ended the show with “Luther” and “Gloria.” They will host their second Los Angeles show at Sophie Stadium tonight, and will continue on tour until August 9th.
Bruno Mars has also been nominated for the top American Music Award Comes with six nominations. He is currently performing at Park MGM in Las Vegas on Dolby Live and will be performing this weekend. He recently announced nine additional performances this fall.
