MANILA, Philippines — Kevin Quiambao is making the most of his sabbatical to spend more time with his family, especially his newborn child.
The reigning UAAP MVP and De La Salle Green Archers will take a 10-day Halloween break before returning to action against Far Eastern University on November 6th at the Mall of Asia.

Quiambao, who scored a career-high 33 points in last Saturday’s 80-65 win over Ateneo, is relieved to finally have more time to spend with his loved ones while staying in top physical condition.

“I am finally able to take care of my children. This holiday is an opportunity to further bond with my family. The season is long, so I need to make sure that my family and loved ones are safe,” said Quiambao.

The La Salle star admitted it’s not easy juggling life as a student-athlete with his duties as a father.
“As a student-athlete, it’s very difficult to balance your time. Before, it was already difficult even when you didn’t have kids,” Quiambao said.

“But for my family, I will do everything. I will endure any fatigue or lack of sleep. At the same time, I want to perform well because I am one of the leaders here. I am the leader of this team. You have to set the tone and lead by example.”
Despite this lull in the schedule, Quiambao remains focused on his goal of defending the Green Archers’ title with only a few Final Four races remaining.
“This break is very important for us because we have a strength and conditioning program and Coach Migs (Aitona) and Coach Jero (Vito) have been supporting us since day one,” he said.
Quiambao will face FEU rookie Veejay Pule, who also exploded for 33 points, as La Salle looks to secure one of its two-win advantages. He scored 31 points in a single day, a career high.
