Anthony Edwards scored 29 points and made 7 of 14 3-pointers in a 119-116 victory over the Minnesota Timberwolves and Denver Nuggets in Minneapolis on Friday night.

Julius Randle had 23 points, seven assists and six rebounds for Minnesota, which won for the third time in its last four games. Rudy Gobert had 17 points and 14 rebounds.

For Denver, Aaron Gordon had a game-high 31 points and 11 rebounds. Nikola Jokic had 26 points, 13 assists and nine rebounds, and Michael Porter Jr. also had 26 points.

Denver was without guard Jamal Murray, who was ejected in the third quarter after colliding with Randle. According to the Nuggets, Murray was placed in concussion protocol. He had 6 points, 3 assists, and 2 rebounds in 22 minutes, ending the Nuggets’ winning streak at 2.

Celtics 124, Hornets 109

Jayson Tatum scored 32 points and Jaylen Brown added 25 points as Boston fended off host Charlotte.

The Celtics fought back from Wednesday’s overtime loss to Indiana, with Derrick White adding 17 points, but it was their only setback of the season. Tatum also had 11 rebounds.

LaMelo Ball led the Hornets with 31 points and four assists, and Tre Mann had 23 points. The game pitted first-year Hornets coach Charles Lee against the team he led to the NBA title as an assistant coach last season.

Thunder 137, Trail Blazers 114

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander had 30 points, seven rebounds and six assists as undefeated Oklahoma City defeated host Portland.

Jaylen Williams had 22 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals as the Thunder won their first five games. Oklahoma City has won 13 straight against the Trail Blazers.

Jerami Grant scored 17 points and Deandre Ayton and Ryan Rupert each added 14 points for Portland, which started the season with four losses in six games.

Cavaliers 120, Magic 109

Darius Garland added 25 points and Donovan Mitchell added 22 points as Cleveland defeated Orlando to remain undefeated.

Cleveland won the first six games of the season, tying the franchise’s best start since the 2016-17 season. Evan Mobley had 14 points and 12 rebounds.

Trailing by as many as 22 points in the third quarter, Orlando suffered its second straight loss despite Jalen Suggs scoring a career-high 28 points. The Magic are without All-Star forward Paolo Banchero, who suffered a torn right oblique muscle Wednesday against the Chicago Bulls.

Knicks 128, Pistons 98

Jalen Brunson scored 36 points in the first three quarters, and New York defeated host Detroit for the 16th straight year.

Brunson made 14 of 22 from the field and added five assists. Karl-Anthony Towns, who scored 44 points against Miami on Wednesday, had 21 points, 11 rebounds and seven assists. OG Anunoby also had 21 points and six assists.

The Pistons had their first win of the season with a road win at Philadelphia. On Friday, Cade Cunningham led the team with 22 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Kings 123, Hawks 115

De’Aaron Fox scored a game-high 31 points and Sacramento defeated host Atlanta, which had lost four straight.

DeMar DeRozan had 27 points and Domantas Sabonis had 15 points, 14 rebounds and six assists for the Kings, who won their third straight game. Keegan Murray had 14 points and 10 rebounds.

Trae Young led Atlanta with 25 points and 12 assists, and Garrison Matthews had 23 points off the bench.

Nets 120, Bulls 112

Cam Thomas continued his strong start with 32 points, and Brooklyn made enough plays down the stretch to beat Chicago in New York.

Thomas scored 30 or more points for the third time in Brooklyn’s first six games, finishing the stretch as the Nets outscored the Bulls 16-8 over the final six-plus minutes.

Nikola Vucevic had 28 rebounds and 11 rebounds for the Bulls, who lost their third straight game. LaVine and Coby White each added 21 points for Chicago, which made 6 of 23 shots from the floor in the fourth, including 2 of 11 from 3-point range.

Lakers 131, Raptors 125

Los Angeles held off host Toronto, with Anthony Davis scoring 38 points and 11 rebounds, and LeBron James recording 27 points, six rebounds, and 10 assists.

Austin Reeves contributed 20 points and D’Angelo Russell contributed 19 points for the Lakers. The Lakers started their first five-game road trip of the season after losing their last two games.

RJ Barrett had 33 points and 12 assists for the Raptors, who have lost four straight. Grady Dick had a career-best 31 points, and Jakob Poeltl had 19 points, 12 rebounds and six assists.

Pelicans 125, Pacers 118

Zion Williamson had 34 points and 10 assists, Brandon Ingram had 26 points and shorthanded New Orleans defeated visiting Indiana.

Jordan Hawkins played without four top players for the Pelicans: Dejounte Murray (hand surgery), CJ McCollum (adductor), Herbert Jones (shoulder) and Trey Murphy III (hamstring). He scored 23 points.

Ben Shepherd scored 20 points, Benedict Mathurin added 19 points and Pascal Siakam added 16 points for the Pacers, who lost for the fourth time in five games.
