Miris today emerged from stealth to unveil technology that brings spatial computing to streaming. It also announced that it has raised $26 million in seed funding, led by IAG Capital Partners. The company plans to explore applications of its technology across a range of enterprises, including entertainment and healthcare.
According to the founders, Millis’ technology solves the problem of spatial computing by allowing spatial content to be streamed in real time without downloading. The company has patented the technology, which enables a content delivery network for spatial content. In other words, consumers can access spatial content in the same way they access music, shows, and movies, without the need for storage.
“The world’s largest technology and entertainment companies are investing billions of dollars in growing the spatial computing market. Miris provides the only complete solution to remove the bottleneck in spatial content delivery and enable spatial streaming for consumers without sacrificing quality or experience,” Miris CEO Marlin Prager said in a statement.
Joel Whitley, Partner at IAG Capital Partners, added: “We believe spatial computing will not see widespread adoption unless high-fidelity interactive spatial content can be easily delivered to consumers through streaming. Miris and its team have solved this key problem with a brilliant solution for delivering spatial content at scale, enabling the ‘pull-through’ of both spatial content and devices that the market has been waiting for. Miris is the key to unlocking spatial computing.”
