WALKER, Minnesota (CelebrityAccess) — Long-running Minnesota music festival Moondance Jam has announced it will scale back its operations this year, including dropping several headliners from the lineup, due to financial difficulties.
The festival, which takes place in Walker, Minnesota from July 18-20, was originally headlined by Foghat, Kansas and Creed, and included Steve Augeri, The Sweet, Mason-Dixon Line, Blue Öyster Cult and Switchfoot, but all of these acts have since been dropped from the lineup, which now focuses on regional acts such as Mallrats, Aoltic Fire, Aftershock and Weekend Rock Star.
Announcing details of the decision, festival organisers said:
We are very sorry to inform you that due to unforeseen circumstances based on the current economic climate, Moondance Jam will have to change its lineup and will remain on its original dates of July 18-20, 2024, featuring only area artists who always give our jammers a great show.
For over 30 years, Moondance Jam has been a beloved tradition in Walker, Minnesota, providing a platform for incredible musical performances in a beautiful setting. However, despite our best efforts, we were unable to raise the necessary funds to put on a festival with the highlights of our national tour this year. Due to this lack of funding, we are unable to move forward with our national touring lineup.
We understand this news will be disappointing to our loyal supporters, and we share your feelings. We remain committed to delivering an amazing experience, and with this in mind, we will be returning to Camp Moondance on the same dates (July 18-20, Walker, MN) showcasing regional talent that embodies the spirit and passion of Moondance. Please check our website for the latest lineup updates, which will be announced soon.
We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused. All tickets purchased will remain valid and we hope you will join us to make this year’s event the best it can be. We are committed to preserving the magic of Moondance and appreciate your continued support.
Notably, the festival will not be offering refunds to ticket buyers following the performer changes.
Organizers said ticket holders can either pick up four additional free passes at the gate along with their original ticket, or exchange them for passes to other events this year, including Deuce’s Wild Dueling Pianos (Aug. 9) and Moondance Harvest Moon Festival (Sept. 21).
Moondance Jam organizers did not respond to a request for comment on the situation.
