Dahlia Al Akidi, Republican Congressional candidate for Minnesota’s Fifth Congressional District, told Gateway critics that their oustermination was not a misunderstanding.
She explained:
This was not a misunderstanding. The individual, who appears to be managers, repeatedly insisted that we were leaving, saying, “Leave now.”
We are simply a group enjoying the meal after the Senate District Conference, and some of us have made it clear to her that this is not a political event.
Despite our explanation, she refused to listen and showed a level of disregard for such a disappointment.
This incident should serve as a wake-up call for everyone. We may live primarily in the blue district, but we do not allow ourselves to be bullied or silent.
We are one community and it is essential to learn to coexist with mutual respect, regardless of political differences.
In calling for boycotting the establishment, Davanni issued a statement assuring its clients that it is open to everyone, regardless of political opinion.
The statement is as follows:
For 50 years, Davanni has been a gathering place in your neighborhood for quality food, community connections and memories.
Over the weekend, our team at Edina misinterpreted our party room fundraising policy, leading to an incident that affected our valued guests. I am very sorry that you took action.
Our team is always working to create a welcoming and friendly environment and dining experience for all our guests, all backgrounds and beliefs.
We took prompt action to understand, resolve and tackle the expanded training of our team members.
We take pride in supporting our community and live on our values every day.

According to them Corporate WebsiteDavanni is “a family-run restaurant that has been a twin city tradition for many since 1975.” There are 19 locations and employ more than 900 people.
Left-wing employees and business owners have been hit by the majority of Americans voting for Trump, and there have been many similar incidents at restaurants and facilities around the country over the past decade.
Only after their actions are exposed will they begin to apologize, claiming that it is all a misunderstanding.
