Michael Van Gerwen thinks he’s ready to debut “New Michael” in New York World Series darts as he prepares to bounce back from the tough times from the game.
In May, the Dutch withdrew from the Dutch Darts Championship after he and his wife Daphne issued a statement posted to X, hoping for the privacy of him and his family, which announced that he and his wife Daphne had separated and apologized.
Van Gerwen is equipped with a new grip and has already hit two nine-darters during practice.
“I don’t know if it’s busy or not, but I know where I’m from and where I am, so I’m going to live by that moment. I need to do the right thing for me and my kids.” Online darts.
“We’re going to see. We all know I’ve had a really tough period, but I also like to do darts. I need to find the right combination of things. We all need to understand.
“I love to play darts, but it’s one of the things I love more, and that’s my kids.
“I also want to live a little healthier, but I think I need to sacrifice in my life because I want to continue doing this in 10 years, and that’s easy.
“I see how things go, but I’m living in the moment.”
The three-time world champion said he is confident in trying his title in New York and wanted to give him his best shot despite his break.
“I’ve had more success in this tournament than anyone else,” said Vangerwen, who won the US Darts Masters in 2017 and 2023.
“You need to make sure you keep it by giving it 100%.
“I’m also realistic. I know there’s been a tough period. But if you think you can’t do any damage in this tournament, you’re not here.”
