manchester united forward marcus rashford In his first social media post since confirming his intention to leave the club, he shared a message about spending “family time” ahead of Christmas.
Rashford, 27, revealed last week that he is looking for a “new challenge” away from Old Trafford, where he has spent the past 20 years. The England international has not been included in United’s squad for the last three games.
The decision to sack Rashford was said to have been made by Ruben Amorim, who was appointed as United’s new manager in November. However, Amorim suggested the player’s agent may have been involved in Rashford’s announcement of his desire to leave.
This kind of player understands that many people around him are making choices that are sometimes not the player’s first idea,” Amorim told Sky Sports. “Okay, we can separate things out.”
Amorim insisted he remains focused on improving Rashford’s performance on the pitch, saying: “I just see what I see on the pitch.”
Rashford is unlikely to feature in United’s Boxing Day game against Wolves as the club, currently 13th in the Premier League, aim to rebuild in the second half of the season.
The winter transfer window opens on January 1st, giving Rashford an opportunity to secure a move away from the club he has represented through their youth academy.
