Reports suggest Manchester United received a double boost as the two star players are approaching a return to action. The Red Devils will face Spanish costumed athletic club in the UEFA Europa League semi-finals, with their first leg being held at San Mames on Thursday.
Fabrizio Romano reports that Ruben Amorim’s side is set up to immediately return the Matthijs de Ligt and Amad Diallo duo after being injured. The pair return to full training on their side and are fighting hard to feature against the Spanish club.
Manchester United took a major hit after one of their most consistent performers, Amado, was ruled out for the February season. The 22-year-old, who signed a new long-term contract this year, suffered from ankle issues before his match against Tottenham Hotspur, but has returned earlier than planned.
Dutch International Drigut began nine consecutive games on the side of Reuben Amorim before suffering an injury in early April. His final appearance was against Nottingham Forest on April 1, and he has not played in any of his last six games.
Manchester United boss Amorim will be extremely pleased with Amado’s return to fitness due to his lack of offensive depth. Ivory Coast International brought nine goals and seven assists in 36 appearances before the injury.
Like Amad, De Ligt was a regular under Amorim, making 40 appearances with the Red Devils in his debut season. The 25-year-old fitness will be a welcome boost for his side, who has only held two clean sheets since the beginning of February.
Manchester United legend set for an emotional return to Old Trafford in the summer
Manchester United legend David De Gere is set to return to Old Trafford for the first time since leaving the club in 2023. The Spanish goalkeeper will be part of the Fiorentina side who will take part in the Snapped Run Cup, which was billed to Old Trafford in the summer.
DeGia found her foot in Florence after spending a year without a club after Manchester United’s release. He made 31 appearances in Serie A, maintaining 11 clean sheets and helping him reach the final four of the UEFA Europa Conference League.
Fiorentina and the Red Devils will lock the Horns on August 9th in their final game, in preparation for the 2025-26 season after the US Tour. De Gea has the opportunity to say goodbye to the fans of the club he represented for 12 years, and will maintain 190 clean sheets with 545 appearances.
