Police opened fire on an armed man who was trying to rob a woman’s car in a Walmart drive-thru, in a dramatic scene captured on body camera footage released by the Louisville, Kentucky Police Department.
Footage taken on Aug. 28 shows the female driver passing the suspect and fleeing the vehicle. Randall Allen As he got into the passenger seat, the officer could be heard repeatedly ordering Allen to get out of the car.
Allen can be heard saying he couldn’t move his hands, but officers eventually fired shots through the windshield, shooting him multiple times before pulling him from the car. Officers said Allen had a gun in his pants and found a second gun in the car.
Police say the incident initially began as a car chase involving Kentucky State Police troopers who were pursuing a vehicle with an expired registration and suspended license.
The pursuit reportedly ended with a crash and Allen, one of the two occupants of the car, ran into a nearby Walmart with two guns.
Allen ran into the Walmart, took off his orange shirt and left it in an aisle, police said, before running outside, where the carjacking occurred, police added.
Allen is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital and is currently facing charges including resisting arrest, false imprisonment and intentional endangerment.
