Linkin Park released their first studio album in 2017 to mourn the death of lead singer Chester Bennington. Another Light It is called From ScratchIt will be released on November 15th. WarnerTo celebrate the announcement, the band has shared a new single, “The Emptiness Machine,” which premiered alongside a livestream performance and a Joe Hahn-directed music video. Original members Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson, Dave “Phoenix” Farrell and Joe Hahn will be joined by new co-vocalist Emily Armstrong (Dead Sarah) and new drummer Colin Britten (G. Fripp/Illenium/One O Rock).
Following Bennington’s death, Mike Shinoda released a solo album. Post-traumatic and Drop FrameHe said in a statement:
Our original band name before LINKIN PARK was Xero. This album title represents both this humble beginning and the journey we are currently on. Sonically and emotionally, it’s about the past, present and future. It incorporates our signature sound, yet is new and vibrant. This album was created with a deep gratitude to new and longtime bandmates, friends, family and fans. We are proud of how LINKIN PARK has grown over the years and are excited for the journey ahead.
He added:
“The more I work with Emily and Colin, the more I enjoy their world-class talent, their company and what we’ve created. We feel truly energized by this new lineup and the vibrant new music we’ve created together. We continue to weave together the sonic touchpoints we’ve been known to excel at while exploring new ones.”
In an interview BillboardMike Shinoda also spoke about drummer Rob Bourdon’s departure. “Rob said at some point, probably a few years ago, that he wanted to distance himself from the band,” he said. “And we knew that. It was already obvious. He started to appear less and less, and we started to hear less, and I think the fans noticed that too. Hybrid Theory Re-release and Paper Cut “After he was released, he didn’t show up for anything. So as a friend, it was sad, but at the same time, I want him to do whatever makes him happy and of course we all wish him the best.”
Next week, Linkin Park embarks on their From Zero World Tour, which will visit Los Angeles, New York, Hamburg, London, Seoul and Bogota.
