Six players, including Lexi Thompson, are tied up at the top of the leaderboard on Saturday after three rounds of the Meijer LPGA Classic in Belmont, Michigan.
Thompson also had a 4-under 68 card, similar to Danish co-leaders Nanna Korsz Madsen and Paraguay’s Sofia Garcia. Sweden’s Madeleine Sagstrom was tied down to the best round of the day, earning a 5-under 67, while South Korea’s Haejin Choi and Spain’s Carlota Siganda each posted a 69-under 69 each to create a logjam for six players.
“Of course, last year was a close call, but tomorrow is a fair game,” said Thompson, who lost to Liliav in the 2024 playoffs at the Bryty Field CC layout.
Thompson, who hasn’t won the tour since 2019, recorded seven birdies and three bogeys, finishing with birdies on No. 16 and No. 18.
Thugstrom captivated the crowd, producing eagles in the fourth and sixth holes, and pinched around birdies in the fifth. The winner of the 2025 LPGA match play, who made a hole from the fairway in the sixth, went 12 under birdies at 14, but bogeyed the par 4 16th hole to 11 under.
“At the end of the day, I knew I was rolling my putters a lot,” Sugstrom said. “That’s a bit – keep it on the fairway and give yourself some chance.”
Thugstrom will be paired with Thompson and Coast Madsen in the final threesome that day on Sunday.
“I’m just trying to stick with the drill and hopefully I’ll work for tomorrow,” Koerstz Madsen said. “I think I still have a good confidence in Green. I had some speeds today.”
Australia’s Karis Davidson has two strokes at 9 under, while four players, including Megan Khang, are tied up at 8 under.
“Today’s round was a little up and down,” Kang said. “Starting your round with a bogey is by no means a great start, but no. It was really good to make 2 a really good par save and go for a three-man Buildi stretch… 3-5 was definitely a great bounce back for me.”
Weiling Hsu of Taipei, China, tied the sagstrom in the low round of the day, tied it to 12th with a 7-under par.
