Kristin Cavallari He is opening up about his unexpected emotional reaction to his son Camden being tackled hard at a football game.
“By the way, I wasn’t planning on crying. I just wanted to give you guys an update on life. I thought I was over all of this,” Cavallari, 37, said on Tuesday, September 17,Let’s be honest.“My oldest son, Camden, plays football in middle school and he plays tackle football. It’s very emotional. I actually cried before Camden’s first game. I was holding back the tears because I was like, ‘I just don’t want you to get hurt.’
“I’ve got all these pads, so even if they hit me, I’m OK,” she recalled, recalling 12-year-old Camden telling her. Laguna Beach The alum told listeners that she thought it was “so sweet” that Camden “tried so hard to reassure me” that there was nothing to worry about.
She continued, “Then in the third game, he got hit and jumped up and went down hard. As a mom, I could see how scared he was after that first hit and that hurt me even more. It devastates me to think about him being scared on the court. It was honestly one of the hardest things I’ve had to endure.”
The Uncommon James founder said he believes “football and these sports are really good for boys in so many ways,” but then tearfully confessed, “I don’t know what to do. I don’t know what to do.”
Her followers were quick to offer words of encouragement in the comments section of her post, with many sharing their own experiences as parents of children who play sports.
“As a mother, the fear I can most empathize with is protecting your children and then letting them go,” one social media user wrote.
Another added, “My son is an athlete and he pressures me to play football every day because baseball is his main sport right now. He’s a sports kid and would play every sport if he could! But football scares me and makes me so anxious for him. Thank you for sharing this video! I really understand your fear.”
