Kelly Clarkson appears to have given ex-husband Brandon Blackstock a Christmas present.
Some major shades.
On Wednesday, to promote her album “When Christmas Comes Around… Again,” the first-ever American Idol winner posted an “official album visualizer” via YouTube.
The video featured four stockings hanging above a fireplace.
Two of the stockings had the names of the artist and Blackstock’s children, 10-year-old daughter River and 8-year-old son Remington, while the other had the word “Mom” written on it.
So far so good and normal, right?
The fourth one has the word “Nope” printed on it, as shown below.
It’s not very subtle.
For those who need a refresher, Clarkson and Blackstock were married for seven years before splitting in 2020.
When the divorce was finalized in 2022, the singer was granted primary custody of their two children.
However, things got pretty sticky at various points, as Blackstock also served as his then-wife’s manager under her father Narvel Blackstock’s company, Starstruck Management Group.
Shortly after the talk show host filed for divorce, Starstruck sued Clarkson for unpaid fees and apparent breach of contract.
After the California Labor Commission ruled that he overstepped his managerial role in securing four business deals with his ex-girlfriend, the singer countersued and ultimately filed a lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend in 2023. won a $2.6 million legal judgment..
So, according to Clarkson, her ex-husband stole from her.
Earlier this year, Mr. Clarkson filed a new lawsuit accusing Mr. Blackstock and his father’s company of violating state labor rules. In May, the ex-lovers quietly settled the lawsuit.
Mr. Clarkson had previously targeted Mr. Blackstock in a similar passive-aggressive manner.
For example, during a performance on his self-titled talk show in March 2023, Clarkson changed the lyrics of Gail’s “ABCDEFU” to seemingly refer to Brandon and his father.
“Forget you and your dad and the fact that you got half/And my broken heart, turn that shit into art,” she sang.
On a related note, Clarkson hasn’t dated publicly since breaking up with her talent manager…and her kids love it, she previously said.
“They always bring it up, ‘Please, we don’t want you to be with anyone else,'” Clarkson told KSOT 103.5 listeners in November. “They’re still young, so it’s hard to imagine their mother with anyone other than their father.”
