Princess Kate Middleton Although she has yet to play in the Wimbledon Tennis Championships, her parents have.
Carole Middleton and Michael Middleton They were photographed arriving at the fourth day of the event, which took place at the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club on Thursday, July 4. Carole, 69, wore a floral dress paired with a cream blazer, while Michael, 74, opted for a navy suit and yellow tie.
However, their daughter Kate, 42, who has been patron of the All England Club since 2016, was not seen with her parents. The Princess of Wales has presented the trophy to the Wimbledon winner in the past but it is unclear whether she will take part this year as she continues to battle cancer.
Regarding whether Kate would play at Wimbledon, All England Club chairwoman Debbie Jevans told Telegraph Sport in June: “We are hopeful that, as patron of the club, the Princess of Wales will be able to present the trophy but her health and recovery is the number one priority. We don’t know what we don’t know. What we have said is that we will work with her and be as flexible as possible.”
Kate announced her cancer diagnosis in March after causing concern by postponing attendance at royal events earlier this year.
“I had major abdominal surgery in London in January which was not thought to be cancer-free at the time,” Kate said in a social media video. “However, tests after the surgery showed that cancer was present.”
Kate called the news a “huge shock” and said she and Prince WilliamThe couple, who married in 2011, plan to keep it “private and managed for their family.” (They have two sons, Prince George, 10, and Prince Louis, 5, and daughter Princess Charlotte, 9.)
“As you can imagine, it took time – I needed time to recover from major surgery in order to start treatment,” she continued, “but most importantly, it took time to explain everything to George, Charlotte and Louis in the right way and to reassure them that I was OK.”
Three months later, Kate gave an update on her health, writing in a statement: “I am recovering well, but as anyone undergoing chemotherapy knows, there are good days and bad days. On the bad days, I feel weak and tired and all I can do is rest. But on the good days, I feel strong and want to make the most of that energy.”
She added: “I’m learning to be patient, especially in times of uncertainty, taking each day as it comes, listening to my body and allowing myself to take this time I need to recover.”
Kate has spoken of her hopes of attending “some public events” later this summer, but nothing has been officially announced yet.
