Trump needed to use the debate to slow Kamala Harris’ momentum, but Harris currently leads Trump 47% to 42%.
Reuters reported in its own poll:
Democratic US Vice President Kamala Harris A Reuters/Ipsos poll conducted on Thursday showed he is leading Republican Donald Trump 47% to 42% in the race to win the Nov. 5 presidential election, with his lead widening after many voters believe Trump won the debate against the former president.
The two-day poll showed Harris with a 5 percentage point lead among likely voters, slightly surpassing her 4-point lead over Trump. The poll was conducted by Reuters/Ipsos from August 21 to 28.
The debate hurt Trump Viewers thought Harris won by a margin of 53% to 24%. Fewer than a quarter of those who watched the debate thought Donald Trump won. This statistic is the very definition of a political disaster.
There’s still a long way to go until the election, but so far Trump has found nothing to slow down Harris’ momentum, and no further presidential debates are scheduled.
There are no more major events left that could garner nationwide public support for Trump. Blowing up the debate, Donald Trump may have lost his final chance to change the current trajectory of the presidential election.
If undecided voters take the momentum and cast their ballots for a candidate, voters could unite around Kamala Harris and end Donald Trump’s political career.
