England’s white-ball captain Jos Buttler will miss the upcoming one-day international series against West Indies due to slow recovery from injury.
Lancashire all-rounder Liam Livingstone will replace him and captain England for the first time in three-day ODIs starting October 31 in Antigua.
England said Buttler, who has not played since the T20 World Cup in June, had suffered a “slight setback in his rehabilitation” due to a calf injury.
The 34-year-old also missed England’s T20 series and ODI series against Australia in September.
However, Buttler will remain with the touring squad and will instead join up with the Barbados squad, hoping to make a comeback for the next five-match T20 series starting on November 9.
A decision has not yet been made as to whether a replacement player will be added to the squad.
