Sen. John Fetterman (D-Pennsylvania) said Elon Musk’s activities in Pennsylvania are moving President Trump’s needle in the state.
Transcript via CNN:
TAPPER: Just before the election, you predicted on this show that the result would be close, and Kamala Harris And ultimately, Democrats will control Pennsylvania. They–obviously that didn’t happen.
You won Pennsylvania by appealing not only to people in urban centers like Philadelphia and Pittsburgh, but also to blue-collar workers in red counties who voted for Trump. This time. Is the Democratic Party still the party of the working class?
Fetterman: Yeah, absolutely.
But I explained the situation, and now I already claimed that it would be incredibly close. And I have also argued that President Trump is the strongest of those three cycles. And now a truly unique event has occurred, an assassination attempt that took place on Butler. It’s 45 minutes from where we are sitting now and then the masks. Musk is more than just your typical surrogate mother. We’ve all been in that situation. We’re all in that business. We have agents. We have support. And while many of them are often not really that important, Musk has now become very active and is said to have moved to Pennsylvania.
And I believe that also helped change the direction of this issue. There, Trump emerged in the strongest position, taking control of Pennsylvania and all the battleground states. The fact that it reflects that, that he was in a strong position, will attract a lot of attention. There were many heated debates before this election.
Mr. Musk’s illegal lottery and misinformation advertising in Pennsylvania undoubtedly had some impact. It’s doubtful they drove Trump voters to the polls, but they certainly likely depressed Democratic turnout in key areas of the state. Elon Musk is not the reason Trump won Pennsylvania. Low Democratic turnout was the reason Trump won Pennsylvania, but Fetterman said Musk was the reason he won the state.
