The White House announced on Saturday that Biden and Trump would meet in the Oval Office at 11 a.m. (16:00 GMT), with the clock ticking toward the former president’s return to power in January.
Trump secured a historic return to the White House with the Nov. 5 election, cementing American politics after more than a decade in the shadow of hard-line, destructive right-wing politics.
The 78-year-old won by a wider margin than before, despite being convicted and impeached twice in office, and despite being warned by his former chief of staff that he was a “fascist.”
Exit polls showed voters’ top concerns remained the economy and inflation, which has soared under the Biden administration in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic.
Biden, who withdrew from the race in July over concerns about his ability to continue at age 81, called Trump after his election victory to congratulate him.
