Jaguar Land Rover India said its retail sales in the first quarter of FY25 rose 31% year-on-year to 1,371 units.
The company sold 1,048 units in the April-June period of the previous fiscal year.
Sales of both the Defender and Range Rover Evoque increased by more than 50%, making the Defender the best-selling model in the portfolio.
The company said that Range Rover, Range Rover Sport and Defender accounted for 75% of total orders.
“Our business performance is progressing as expected. In addition to robust sales, our order backlog has also increased by 10 per cent compared to the beginning of the financial year, indicating continued growth in demand as we continue to strengthen our supply to the market,” JLR India managing director Rajan Amba said.
He said the Defender remains its most popular model and the positive response to the locally produced Range Rover and Range Rover Sport means the company is confident of maintaining this momentum and achieving another successful year.
“The Indian market is responding favourably to our attractive product portfolio,” Amba said.
