At one point during a campaign event in Detroit this week, J.D. Vance was asked why the city’s black voters should support him and Trump. He gave an almost perfect answer.

He emphasized that when Detroit was more prosperous, all Americans of all colors there were doing better. He also emphasized law and order, saying Black people in Detroit want to live in a safe city.

This year’s Michigan election is a close one, and Vance’s comments could lead to major changes in the Trump campaign.

This is part of Vance’s answer. Twitter/X:

When a reporter asked JD Vance what his message was to black voters, Vance’s answer was perfect. He even explained that his upbringing in Appalachia was connected to Black stories.

“The story of black Americans, especially in the city of Detroit, is actually very similar to the story of white Americans in Appalachia who came from West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee…and it wasn’t always perfect, but this country For generations, blacks and whites worked together to provide for their families, build things for this country, and create prosperity for the nation as a whole.”

In the majority-black city, the campaign welcomed a panel of speakers that included a pastor and chorister from a black church where Trump campaigned this summer, a woman who spoke about layoffs at an auto company, and congressional candidates.

Although there were a few black speakers, the audience for Vance’s mid-afternoon talk appeared to be mostly white. Although he tried to appeal to a wider audience in his speech.

Martell Bibbings Jr., who is running for Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, encouraged attendees to increase their support in Detroit.

“It may not be very cool to say you’re a Republican in Detroit, but the time is coming when they can put on a shirt and say it was cool to be a Republican in Detroit.” “Become a Republican in Detroit before it’s cool,” Bibbings said, telling the audience to “Be a Republican in Detroit before it’s cool.”

Democrats are concerned about Michigan. Mr. Vance gives them further reason to be concerned.
