Important points of ZDNET

  • Universal Travel Adapters in this range are suitable for all your needs, compatible with over 220 countries
  • These Gan chargers feature USB-C and USB-A ports, making them high quality, robust and safe
  • These universal chargers do not convert voltages, so be careful about what you plug in.

Digital gadgets have become an important part of modern travel. From smartphones and tablets to e-readers, cameras, drones, and Bluetooth speakers, these devices share one general requirement: power. However, when you’re on the go, there’s no convenience for multiple chargers or unlimited outlets that you’re at home. In particular, hotel rooms are often restricted to annoying when it comes to power outlets, and the available outlets are usually located in frustrating places.

This is where universal travel adapters become essential. They offer multiple converters compatible with power sockets around the world, as well as several USB ports to efficiently handle all your charging needs.

Also, the best gun charger you can buy

That said, not all universal travel adapters are created equally. They vary significantly in output and have direct impacts, size, bulk and most importantly. Choosing the right one can make a huge difference in your travel experience.

I’m testing Tessan Universal Travel Adapters For several months, I became a huge fan. They check all the boxes for me.

It works cool thanks to gallium nitride (GAN) semiconductors. Compatible with our EU, AU and UK plugs and can connect to sockets in over 220 countries. The prongs are easily packed into the adapter and have three slide levers to deploy and store them.

For added peace of mind, it also includes a 10A replaceable fuse in case of unexpected issues.

The Tessan 65W Universal Travel Adapter was the perfect “Goldilocks” solution that suited my needs. On my recent trip I had a few gadgets, including smartphones, tablets and similar devices, but no laptops. This adapter can charge your MacBook Pro, but it is slower than a dedicated 140W charger. Still, in my setup it was an ideal balance of power, portability and convenience.

Also: I have never lost a drone in over a decade. This is my secret

For those who need more power, Tessan also offers a 140W universal travel adapter, which I had the opportunity to test. It weighs 9.9 ounces, and the 3.65 x 2.17 x 2.1 inches measurements are much larger and considerably larger than the 65W version.

However, it retains the same compatibility with the global plug and socket, as well as the same safety features including a replaceable 10A fuse. Its USB port configuration highlights two USB-C ports with a maximum output of 140W, another USB-C port with a maximum output of 18W, and a USB-A port that can have a maximum output of 18W. This adapter is perfect for business travel and power hunger devices as it has no issues charging my laptop quickly.

But what if you’re driving through the light on a small gadget like some smartphones or earphones? In that case, a 140W charger, or even a 65W charger, could be overloaded. That’s where Tessan’s 35W Universal Travel Adapter comes in.

Also, the best power bank you can buy

It weighs only 5.5 ounces, and weighs 2.79 x 2.17 x 2.09 inches, making it compact and lightweight while offering the same global plug compatibility and safety features. This model includes a single USB-C port capable of 35W output and four additional ports (two USB-C and two USB-A) that offer 12W output. Perfect for lighter travel needs without sacrificing functionality.

ZDNET purchase advice

The price is correct too The Tessan 35W adapter costs only $23, 65W $43 is a little more expensive, and 140W “Big One” only $66.

And these don’t need to be used only for travel. They are also at home or at the office.

Don’t forget that this travel adapter does not convert voltage. The wall plug that connects to the unit must be compatible with the power of the country you are in.
