Patrick Roy said New York Islander head coach, new general manager and vice president Matthew Dersch at an introductory press conference on Thursday.
Roy, 59, has owned a 55-47-17 record since replacing Lane Lambert with an islander coach on January 20, 2024. The Hall of Fame posted the 35-35-12 mark this season but was unable to lead the club into the playoffs.
Assistant coaches John McLean and Tommy Alberin will not return to the bench, Dersch said.
However, Dash was not complete there.
When asked about whether he was interested in entertaining the overall overall pick offer for the 2025 NHL Draft, Dash made the response quicker.
“Someone really has to knock my socks down,” he said.
New York scored an overall pick in the 2025 NHL Draft earlier this month.
Dash, 48, has been director of the Tampa Bay Lightning hockey operations for the past six seasons. The Lightning qualified for the annual playoffs of that stretch, winning back-to-back Stanley Cup titles in 2020 and 2021 and appearing in the finals in 2022.
Dasch, the general manager and executive vice president of Tab, will replace Lula Moriello, who left the islanders last month after seven seasons.
