There are many reasons to be grateful for the trees. Trees provide shade to our homes and our crops have windbreaks. We eat fruits and nuts they endure, and their wood provides paper, furniture, houses and more. Wood filters toxins from the air and water, preventing erosion Very air we breathe. And they are one of our simplest and best solutions to climate change. A single tree can capture approximately 13 pounds of carbon dioxide in its first year.
If you read a book, knock on a wooden door, eat an apple, or enjoy a coffee, you’ve experienced the bounty of the trees. And if you’ve climbed a tree, hiked through the forest, relaxed in the shade of a tree, or hugged a tree, you probably already know how wonderful a tree is. On this arbor day, it takes a little time to understand how much we can get from the trees. If possible, plant a tree or help someone else plant the tree.
