India won their third Champions Trophy title by winning New Zealand by four wickets in the final in Dubai on Sunday. The team chased 252 with six balls.
Skipper Rohit Sharma set the basis for the pursuit, leading 83 balls from the front with a 76-run knockoff. Shrayas Iyer contributed 48 runs from 62 deliveries, while KL Rahul remained unbeaten with 34 from 33 balls, passing through targets to lead India. Hardik Pandya added 18 runs in a short stay in the crease.
Batting first, New Zealand posted 251 for 7 in the 50 over. Daryl Mitchell scored the top score with 63 of 101 balls, Michael Braiswell remained unbeaten with 53 from the ball of 40, while Lachin Rabindra scored 37 from the 29 deliveries. Kuldeep Yadav and Varun Chakaravarthy took two wickets each, admitting 40 and 45 runs, respectively.
India maintained control throughout the tournament and won the title without losing the match. The team previously won the Champions Trophy in 2002 and 2013. No other teams have won the tournament three times.
