India’s approach is always measured, responsible and remains intact, Foreign Minister Sjaishankar said on Saturday after speaking with Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
The telephone conversation between Jaishankar and Rubio came when Indian and Pakistani troops targeted each other’s installations and escalated an already serious conflict.
“I had a conversation with @secrubio this morning. The Indian approach is always measured, responsible and remains as is,” Jaishankar said in a social media post.
The US State Department said Rubio emphasized that Rubio needs to identify ways to escalate and reestablish direct communication to avoid miscalculation.
“He further proposed US support in promoting productive discussions to avoid future conflicts,” said State Department spokesman Tammy Bruce.
