Indian Hotels Co., part of the TATA Group, which manages TAJ brand hotels, will expand by 2030 with boutique luxury spaces with over 20 properties under the Claridges Collection brand.
This follows a 25-year management agreement between IHCL and Claridges Hotels Pvt. November 2024.
IHCL will begin managing the Clarridges Hotel in Delhi from April, but the group has also decided to deliver the Connemara Hotel to Chennai within six months and the Blue Diamond Hotel in Pune, which is under the Clarridges Collection brand, within 18 months.
According to IHCL CEO Puneet Chhatwal, demand for luxury products and services is at an all-time high, led by a significant expansion of households in luxury brackets. “This provides market opportunities to expand hospitality products in the luxury market without growing the TAJ brand.”
Claridges Collections, a curated ensemble at Boutique Luxury Hotels, will be placed on par with the company’s TAJ brand.
Most of the investments in the group, including Claridge, are in India rather than international. Chatwal told NDTV’s interests. “Our focus is on luxury hotels across the country. That’s why subway cities and resort destinations are tapped to expand the Claridge Collection.”
IHCL currently has 375 hotels, 242 operations and a portfolio of 133 in its pipeline, but in 2026 it will open 30-36 new hotels with an average of 150 rooms per hotel.
Under the “Accelerate 2030 Strategy for 2030” announced last year, IHCL has announced plans to have a portfolio of over 700 hotels and double its revenues to Rs 15,000 by then. Chatwal also said the company will continue to invest around 5% of its revenue in new investments.
